How it works

  1. Pick your industry to hide events that don't fit your business.
  2. Check each event's date and the suggested launch date, which leaves time to run the giveaway and send the prize.
  3. Open an event for ideas, then download its calendar file, or download every event at once.
  4. On launch day, write your caption and rules, and when entries close, pick the winner with a draw anyone can check.

Questions and answers

How are the launch dates worked out?

Each event has a suggested lead time, from one week for Black Friday to six weeks for Christmas. The launch date is the event date minus that lead time, and the suggested end leaves time to pick a winner and send the prize.

Why do some dates move every year?

Some events follow a rule instead of a fixed date. US Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May, Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November, and Easter follows the moon. The calendar works out each one for you.

What is in the calendar file?

Two all-day entries for each event: a reminder on the launch date, with the suggested run, and the event itself. It is a standard .ics file, so it opens in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook.

Which country are the dates for?

Mostly the US. Fixed dates such as Christmas and Halloween are the same everywhere, and the Mother's Day page also lists UK Mothering Sunday. Summer and back to school use approximate US seasons.

Do the dates update by themselves?

Yes. The list starts from today's date on your device, so an event that has already passed moves to next year.

Can I run a giveaway on a date that isn't listed?

Of course. The giveaway countdown and the giveaway picker work for any date. The calendar covers 13 common seasonal dates.
