Questions and answers

Why post an official giveaway notice?

Fake accounts copy real giveaways and message entrants to say they won. A clear notice tells your followers which account is real and how winners are contacted, so a fake message is easier to spot.

What do giveaway scammers usually ask for?

Fees to release a prize (shipping, tax or processing), card details, passwords and one-time login codes. A real giveaway doesn't need any of these.

Where should I post the notice?

Post the image with your giveaway, add the caption text, and pin the comment under the giveaway post. A Story version helps people who only watch Stories.

Which contact method should I choose?

Pick the one you will really use: a comment on the winning entry, a DM only from this account, or an email only from your own domain. Then contact winners exactly that way.

Does the notice stop fake accounts?

No. It can't remove fake accounts, but it helps your followers spot them. Report fakes to the platform as well, and warn your followers in a Story.

How can entrants check a message they got?

They can paste it into our giveaway scam checker, which looks for the usual warning signs such as fees, login codes and lookalike handles.

Is this the same as a giveaway disclaimer?

No. A giveaway disclaimer says the platform isn't involved, for example "This giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Instagram." Our caption generator adds that line to your entry post; this notice covers which account is real and how winners are contacted.
